Tilleke Schwarz

Following the embroidery trend of the past week, Tilleke Schwarz produces works that hold a graphic quality, regurgitating daily life with a touch of Jewish humor. Referring to her own work as ‘visual poetry’, the pieces display a mixture of influences such as street and folk art with the inclusion of traditional samplers.

With the artist working as author, the viewer is asked to create their own links and narratives within the disjointed text and imagery.

I love Schwarz’ use of colour and the seemingly unorganized or automatic aesthetic or her works.
